One of the oldest municipalities of Nepal, the town of Bhadrapur (and the municipality in Jhapa district in the Mechi zone) is also known as the "Tea City" of Nepal.

You land at Bhadrapur airport, which is also known as Chandragadhi airport and serves both the cities of Bhadrapur and Chandragadhi. The airport is at an elevation of 300 feet and is capable of handling aircraft in the Nepalese Army Air Service.

Located in the south-eastern region of Nepal, its economic significance is its proximity to the Indo-Nepal border. The Mechi River separates the two countries as it flows between Galgiya of India and Bhadrapur in Nepal.

Bhadrapur is also the gateway to the eastern range of the Himalayas. With its sprawling tea gardens and verdant hills, the region around this city is green and picturesque in itself. Places to visit in and around Bhadrapur are the Mechi multiple campus, Kameshwar complex, Buddha Mandir, Bajra Tea Garden, Mechi Bridge and Mahendra Park. It is also the place from where you can embark on a larger tour that includes some Indian cities like Darjeeling and Gangtok.
